2010 Conference Report: Women in the Criminal Justice System
The ACJRD 13th Annual Conference Report: Women in the Criminal Justice System was launched by the Hon. Mrs Justice Catherine McGuinness on February 16th 2011. A copy of this speech can be found here: C. McGuinness - Report Launch Speech
The Hon. Mrs Justice Catherine McGuinness noted that women in the criminal justice system is an area of research and policy formation which doesn't receive a great deal of attention in Ireland. She paid tribute to the release of this timely report and drew attention to the fact that that the number of women offenders is comparatively small in the overall context of criminal offending and that the vast majority of the offences are minor.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the Hon. Mrs Justice Catherine McGuinness for launching our Conference Report and for the Opening Address she presented to commence the Conference itself.
